Bringing in a Guest Speaker by Video
WHAT IS IT AND HOW IS IT USED?
Standards-based video conferencing is one of our specialties. On many occasions you may have a famous author, top researcher, subject matter expert or exceptional instructor who would be willing to speak to your class but the constraints associated with distance and time make their coming to campus not possible. This is where our video conferencing team can be a big help. We have the expertise and equipment to connect your class to any location where there is a solid Internet connection.
We connect classes to guest speakers regularly. A recent large-scale project we helped deliver is the Psychology of Language Video Series. A member of CSU's Department of Psychology apporached several top psychology of language experts to give a brief presentation of their research to an audience of psychology students and faculty here via video. When a speaker accepted the invitation, our video conferencing specialist worked the technical staff at the speaker's host institution to ensure a solid, uninteruppted connection. The advantage of utilizing our Center's video conferencing services was that, for every presentation, our team managed the technical portion of the video conference which left the presenter available to simply present and the audience available to listen and respond.
